Comics and graphic novels are not just a passion of mine but a diverse world I love to explore. From slice-of-life to young adult, from superhero to one-offs, I've delved into many types of graphics. Yet, when I pondered over this blog, I realized that the internet is already brimming with discussions about comics. So, what can I bring to the table? The answer is simple: my unique perspective and personal love for them.
So, first up is Eric Powell's The Goon. There is a lot in the series to love. It is a very classic anti-hero journey, though I think what makes it stand out is the elements of folklore and the supernatural added into the story. It is a beautiful read similar to Hellboy, though less with fate tied into it. In Hellboy, fate plays a significant role in the storyline, whereas in The Goon, the focus is more on [specific elements]. Some of my favorite characters are the side ones, like Buzzard and Frankie. I also enjoyed the side stories that Eric Powell does. Would I recommend this to young kids? NO. It is a violent comic and much suited to high schoolers and college-age kids. But I would recommend it to everyone who likes supernatural elements and folks or who is into Hellboy.
Oooo more more more! What else do you like about it?
